On The Road

Rolf Magener is a good freind of mine.  We used to be photographers assistants many years ago for some of the best fashion photographers in the world.

After Rolf discovered the Internet in the early ’90’s, he had a brainstorm one day while cleaning the portfolio pages of his book while wondering how he could clean his filthy first gen iPod. The result was iPod cleaner - a product that brought him great success.

Rolf decided to take this cash and travel the world, which he is still doing as of this day.

I just talked to him a few days over Skype. He had just arrived in NYC after sailing the globe on a sailing ship for the last several months.

he has been on the move and taking pictures around the world for a number of years now.  I am hoping he will post more images on this site, but - in the meantime, you can check out some of his recent work here. Link

After my South America and Antarctica leg of my journey I am back on the road….

On this leg I am first heading north to Iceland and on to Russia to ride the Trans Siberia railroad, from there I will be crossing over to Mongolia and Japan, then swinging back over China to Iran and Jordan over to Cairo to finish off in Cape Town…. all overland.. with no planned route just a rough idea of where I want to go and what I want to see….

Russians are some of the friendliest I have ever met. St Petersburg has some of the most fantastic old buildings in the world… in a way it reminded me of Venice.

Moscow is very grand and sophisticated…and the ride on the Trans Siberian Rail unforgettable… Link
