After my South America and Antarctica leg of my journey I am back on the road….

On this leg I am first heading north to Iceland and on to Russia to ride the Trans Siberia railroad, from there I will be crossing over to Mongolia and Japan, then swinging back over China to Iran and Jordan over to Cairo to finish off in Cape Town…. all overland.. with no planned route just a rough idea of where I want to go and what I want to see….

I actually wanted to go to North Korea…. but I ended up in the South… very western feeling to the place besides what you see in the photos…. Link

Mongolia

After spending 10 days with nomads in the Gobi and North Mongolia I felt sad to leave…. I will miss the vast open spaces and the great silence…. Link

Russia

Russians are some of the friendliest I have ever met. St Petersburg has some of the most fantastic old buildings in the world… in a way it reminded me of Venice.

Moscow is very grand and sophisticated…and the ride on the Trans Siberian Rail unforgettable… Link

Finland

On my way to St Petersburg, I spent a few days in Helsinki before getting on the train. Helsinki is a pleasant city, not too big, with some very good restaurants and bars… Link

Estonia

Only one and a half hrs by boat from Helsinki it is a world apart… walking around the old town of Tallinn is like stepping back in time.. fantastic buildings and streets.. the new part of town is is like any modern city. Link
